Case Studies

The 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil

During the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, 64 channel JoeCo BLACKBOX BBR64-MADI multi-track recorders were deployed in all seven stadiums. Recording 64 channels of pristine, broadcast ready audio in every venue, the BLACKBOX recorders were relied upon to capture ambient noise from fans and players alike, ensuring that every moment of the tournament was preserved for later use in post-production. Microphones were placed around each of the stadiums and all audio was fed to the BBR64-MADI BLACKBOX recorders over optical cables. All 64 channels were then captured in industry standard Broadcast WAV format on an external USB drive which could be instantly removed for quick and easy transfer of the files into post-production. The external drive could also be quickly replaced in time for the next match, meaning that while one match was in post, the next was being recorded with no need to switch out any equipment bigger than a USB drive.
